Get Started With Your Blog

Let’s get your blog set up for you.

As of today, since we are still in beta release, the process involves some manual steps. But, we plan to roll out a dashboard soon where you would be able to manage all your blogs with ease. Till then, I’ll help you out — Abhishek

The steps are simple. Please follow them, in order, and we’ll have your blog up and running in no time.

Step 1. Set up your notion pages

We will be using Notion databases for everything:

  • your website pages
  • your blog posts
  • generating leads for your email list (coming soon)

So, for each website you want to create you will have three databases.

We recommend adding all three databases to the same page so that it is easier to keep track of, and keep things organised.

We have created a sample page for you. You can just go ahead and duplicate it to your Notion workspace.

Template page you can duplicate into your Notion workspace for each website

You can duplicate the page multiple times - for each website you want to create, and give each page a unique friendly name you can identify it with.

Personally, I use the domain names as the name of the page. Keeps things super simple.

If you are creating multiple websites, and want to keep them all clustered together, you can do so by moving these newly created pages to a master page containing all the website pages you have just created.

Once again, the link of the sample page you can use to duplicate into your Notion workspace is TryWilder Template

Step 2. Connect your newly set up Notion pages using our connector

To make your site most optimised for performance and faster page loads, we serve your website as a statically generated website. You can read up more to understand the benefits of using a static website.

To do so, we need to connect with the Notion pages you created in the previous step. You can do so using our Notion integration.

Once you connect the integration, you will need to select the pages you created in Step 1 for it to read content for your websites.

You will need to do this just once, and once this connection has been established, the connector will keep your website in sync with your Notion database forever - until the connection exists.

Connect your Notion pages using the TryWilder Connector

Make sure you are in the right workspace before proceeding to the next screen. If you need to change the workspace, you can use the dropdown (circled in the screenshot above)

Select all the pages you created in Step 1, and click Allow Access.

You can also search for the pages using the searchbox on this screen.

Step 3. Configure your domain

While we will assign a subdomain of your choice such as resources.trywilder.com for every single one of your websites, you can easily set things up for any domain you own so that your website opens at a domain of your choosing.

You can choose either a root domain or a subdomain to set up your blog, so something like https://example.com or https://blog.example.com are both valid choices.

To set things up, you will need to configure a simple DNS setting for the change to take effect.

Here is how you can do that if you are using Cloudflare to manage your domain.

  1. Login to your cloudflare account and choose the domain you wish to configure
  2. Select DNS to make changes to DNS records. (DNS is on the left menu)

  1. Click “Add record” to add a new record
  2. Add a new CNAME entry for your domain. Target would be content.trywilder.com

If you want to use your root domain for your website, use “@”.

If you want to use a subdomain, use “subdomain” in the name field. For example, here is what we would use if we wanted to have the website set up for growth.batcave.com

  1. Optional: Disable the proxy status. Since we would be providing you with a SSL certificate, you do not need to proxy your traffic through Cloudflare.
  2. Optional: Leave the TTL setting as Auto, or you can choose it if you so choose.
  3. Recommended: If you wish users to find your website irrespective of whether they open https://example.com or https://www.example.com, I would recommend adding another CNAME entry here, with the name attribute as “www” or “www.growth”. The Target would remain the same, i.e. content.trywilder.com

If your domain is being managed by some other provider such as Namecheap or GoDaddy, they have similar forms for managing DNS, and you can easily configure them yourselves.

If you need any help, let me know. — Abhishek

Before moving to the next step, make sure your DNS changes have propagated. You can use any online DNS propagation checker for this purpose.

Select CNAME in the dropdown, and add the complete url in the textbox, i.e. batcave.com or growth.batcave.com

You should see a result similar to this:

If you see similar result, then that means your DNS propagation has happened successfully, and you can proceed to the next step.

Step 5. Choose A Plan

We have two highly attractive pre-launch plans available right now starting at $4/mo.

Choose the plan that suits you best.

Both plans come with a 30-day no questions asked refund policy. So, if you are unhappy with your experience because of any reason, we’ll refund it back for you.

You can learn more about our plans on our pricing page.

Step 6. Send us an email

Once you have activated the subscription plan, send an email to abhishek@trywilder.com with your domain name, and your Notion page id or url corresponding to each website you want to set up, and I’ll take it up from there.

Step 7. Done!

Your website should be up and running shortly after you send me that email. You would receive an email confirming as much.

Once that has happened, you would be able to verify everything is working smoothly as expected. To set up things such as adding logos, menus, website details (for structured markups) etc., follow the instructions in the mail.

In case you prefer a 1:1 onboarding to help you finalise setup, schedule a Google meet invite following the link provided in the email. — Abhishek

That’s it, you’re done!

Now, as you add content to your databases, they will get auto-updated for your website and you will never need to worry about all the technical stuff you needed to take care of for running your websites before.

Happy blogging!
